“Having a
recycling event of this scale has been a goal of ours,” said Laura Birmingham,
Assistant Director.  “We routinely provide recycling services such as our
donation box for cell phones and glasses, the recycling containers in the
building and outside the building for plastic, paper, and glass.  We also
have two Paper Retrieve containers in the parking lot, and this is our first
large scale recycling event.  There will also be a shredding service for
confidential information.”

For Veterans’ Day,
the library will be collecting worn flags at its Come to the Cabaret program on
Sunday, Nov. 10 at 2 p.m.

Recently, a
library user commented that “libraries were ‘green’ before it was
popular!  What a great way to ‘recycle books, magazines, DVDs, etc.”
By its very nature, the library is a friend to the earth.
Every book or movie that people borrow from the library is one less book or
movie that will eventually end up in a landfill.
