Burr Ridge Starbucks To Start Serving Beer and Wine in July

Liquor will be available at the Starbucks in the Village Center starting at 2 p.m. every day.

In July, the in Burr Ridge's Village Center will be one of about seven Starbucks locations in the Chicago area to add beer and wine to its menu.

The Doings reports that Schaumburg and Burr Ridge will be the first two spots outside of the Pacific Northwest to sell alcohol.

Earlier this year, Starbucks announced that it was rolling out its "Evening Day- Part concept in the Chicago area, Atlanta and Southern California as well as the Pacific Northwest.

"We are focused on creating an atmosphere where our customers can relax with a friend, a small bite to eat and a cup of coffee or glass of wine,” said Clarice Turner, senior vice president of Starbucks U.S. Operations about the concept in a press announcement in January.

At the time, Starbucks spokesperson Zack Hutson said was the type of community that would be appropriate for the idea.

"We will [bring the concept to a] select group of stores that are relevant to the neighborhood and the customer base in each of the those areas," Hutson told Patch in January. "[The menu] will be tailored to cater to the market taste and preferences. For example, in the Pacific Northwest, we serve wines that are from the Pacific Northwest."

Starbucks also plans to add savory foods to its menu to accompany the new beverages.

The Village Board passed the motion to grant Starbucks approval to sell beer and wine daily starting at 2 p.m. Sales would be limited to one glass per customer at a time.

An enclosed outdoor seating area for customers to enjoy their beverages is also in the works for the location in the Village Center.
