ReplyThe department didn't specify the exact nature of the distracted driving that netted the violations. You'll notice that I didn't attribute "changing the radio" to the press release--it's not something they said they were specifically targeting. I included it more as a public service so people think about all the different behaviors that can distract their attention from the road.

Good catch, Jennifer! It's in Melrose Park. My brain swapped it when I was typing. This is actually a great example for Bserius about why I try to be so detail-oriented—mistakes do happen, so I make every effort to be precise. (And for the record, this one error would have earned me an F in my grad school program. Duly humbled.)

I'm as specific as possible when writing police items, including even small details like that, because it keeps it true to the police report. It's critical to be precise when reporting and including the brand, even though it seems inconsequential, is another way to demonstrate my commitment to accuracy.

Hi Mary Jane,
If you already left ComEd but are interested in the FirstEnergy rates, you'll want to confer with your current provider to see if there is any sort of penalty fee for leaving that contract. I would also suggest calling the village at 708-579-2315 and FirstEnergy at 1-866-636-3749 to see what advice they have.
