Hinsdale Teen Charged with DUI in Burr Ridge: Police Blotter

Burr Ridge police reports, March 16-20

WEDNESDAY, MARCH 20 Joseph M. Bergland, 19, of the 5800 block of South Garfield Avenue, Hinsdale, was charged with DUI, police said, after a 12:40 a.m. traffic stop near the intersection of County Line Road and Longwood Drive. He was released to appear in court. MONDAY, MARCH 18 Michael H. Iwema, 20, of the 700 block of Cottonwood Court, Willowbrook, was charged with illegal consumption of alcohol, police said, after a 1:36 a.m. traffic stop related to driving with one headlight near the intersection of Madison Street and North Frontage Road. He was released to appear in court. SUNDAY, FEB. 17 Police said a drunken person punched and broke the rear window of another person's SUV while it was parked in the 15W100 block of South Frontage Road. When police responded to the report at 7:53 a.m., restitution had already been made and the owner of the vehicle did not press charges.  An underage drinking party in the 0-100 block of Andrew Court was broken up by police at 11:06 p.m., police said. All juveniles at the party were released to parents, police said, and an investigation is pending. New Underage Drinking Law Cracks Down on Parents

Provisions of an Illinois law expands on parents' responsibilities to prevent underage drinking on their property.

A law taking effect Jan. 1 targeting underage drinking will crack down on parents who allow minors to drink anywhere on their property, expanding on the current law that specifies it is illegal to let minors drink at their home.  The expanded law makes it a misdemeanor carrying a $500 fine for any adult to knowingly permit minors under the age of 21 to drink alcohol on their property or in their home. If the violation results in bodily harm or death, the adult will be charged with a felony, according to a press release from the City of Wheaton. The provision also strikes the requirement that the person in the home knows about the underage drinking activity. Police Blotter: Burr Ridge Teen Arrested, Charged With Illegal Consumption of Alcohol

Darien police reports, May 15-27.

SUNDAY, MAY 27 A 17-year old girl from Burr Ridge; Steven Glodic, 18, of the 5700 block of South Kensington in Countryside and Marcel Picallo, 19 of the 7400 block of Brookdale in Darien were arrested around 3:10 a.m. near the intersection of Wirth and Howdy by Darien police. Officers responding to a noise complaint said they found the three teens in the intersection with a can of beer and a bottle of vodka next to them on the ground. Police said the teens smelled strongly of alcohol. Each was charged with illegal consumption of alcohol by a minor. Glodic and Picallo were given a July 3 court date, while the Burr Ridge teen has a court date pending. Police Blotter information is provided by local law enforcement agencies. Charges are not …
