Census: Burr Ridge Bests State Rates on Income, Home Ownership, Employment

Not surprisingly, Burr Ridge compares very well to state averages according to the latest U.S. Census numbers released last week.

The U.S. Census Bureau on Thursday released estimates from its American Community Survey, which provides local statistics for the combined years from 2007 to 2011 on everything from housing to employment to marital status in communities throughout the country. The numbers look good for Burr Ridge. The village has an estimated median household income of $132,045, more than double the state average of $56,576. Burr Ridge's homeownership rate is 95.8 percent, compared to the Illinois average of 68.7 percent. The median value of owner-occupied units in Burr Ridge is $679,400, dwarfing the state's median of $198,500. The U.S. Census Bureau computes that only 11.2% percent of United States residents are of Irish decent. But you would not know that every March 17. As the saying goes, everyone is Irish on St. Patrick’s Day.
