6 Candidates Vying for 4 Seats on Pleasantdale 107 School Board

One of the six is a sitting board members seeking re-election to the board in April.

Six candidates including one sitting board members filed nominating papers to run for four open Pleasantdale School District 107 Board of Education seats and will appear on the April 9 ballot, an email from district administration said. The portion of the ballot for District 107 school board will include the following names:  Mirabile is the only sitting board member seeking re-election. The other five would be newcomers. Tax Relief Coming to D107 Residents

Pleasantdale School Board pays off some debt.

Residents of Pleasantdale School District 107 should see some tax relief in the fall after the Board of Education approved a $750,000 debt service abatement of construction bonds. Superintendent Mark Fredisdorf said the district had sufficient finances to pay off the bonds. Doing so he said will pass some tax relief on to district residents. Fredisdorf said district residents should see some relief beginning in the fall. Board members also voted to continue a 1998 transportation agreement with St. John of the Cross. Under the terms of the agreement the district provides transportation services for students living within the boundaries of Pleasantdale School District, but who attend St. John of the Cross. Pleasantdale Honors Students, Teachers

Recognition event held Wednesday night

The Pleasantdale School Board recognized Technology Specialists Judith Stevens and John McAtee during its meeting Wednesday night “for going above and beyond the call of duty” to implement the Skyward Software system districtwide. Superintendent Mark Fredisdorf said the task involved a tremendous amount of work that began last summer to implement the new system. “And there are two people who are central to the success of that, who have worked tirelessly  a lot of overtime hours. It’s not been an easy process, but because of their hard work it’s gone quite well,” Fredisdorf said. Today Is the Last Day To Apply For Vacant Seat on Pleasantdale School Board

The District 107 Board will hold a special meeting on Oct. 6 to interview the candidates in closed session.

Today is the last day for residents to submit a letter of interest and application for the vacant seat on the Pleasantdale school board. The new member will fill the seat being vacated by Patti Essig until the school board election in April of 2013. To apply, candidates should submit a letter of interest and a candidate form to the school board by the close of business on Oct. 3. Candidate forms are available for download from the district's website or by calling the district office at (708) 784-2013. All applicants must be residents of District 107 and over 18 years old in order to be considered. A special meeting will be held Thursday, October 6 at 6:15 p.m., to interview the applicants.
