It is undeniable that the Lyons Township High School soccer team has some magic in the making in 2010. Friday evening, the 2009 IHSA class 3A state champions displayed such magic in overcoming bitter rival Morton High School in thrilling fashion, 2-1, in the sectional championship. Illinois' No.1 vs. No. 2 matchup, according to the Chicago Tribune's PrepsPlus section, was held at neutral site Argo High School. The match was heavily hyped all week, and by the final whistle, the hype had been justified. Case in point: On Tuesday night, the co-captian's two goals—one a header—dragged the Lyons Township High School soccer squad from the flames as it narrowly defeated Hinsdale Central High School 3-2 at Dickinson Field, home of the Red Devils, to win the "Silver Brick" trophy.
