The Hinsdale Parks and Recreation Department's Breakfast with Santa event is set for 9 a.m. at the Katherine Legge Memorial Lodge.
The following is a release from the Village of Hinsdale Parks and Recreation Department: Santa is making a last minute stop by the beautiful Katherine Legge Memorial Lodge on Saturday, Dec. 8, to check who has been naughty or nice. Join us for an intimate morning visit with Santa at 9 a.m. The event will include picture opportunities with Santa and a light breakfast that includes donuts, bagel, juices and coffee. Crafts will also be provided. Pre-registration is required. The fee is $13 for Hinsdale residents and $18 for non-residents. All participants age 2 and over need to register. The annual Hinsdale Chamber of Commerce event took place Friday night from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. downtown.
The 47th annual Hinsdale Christmas Walk took place Friday night in downtown Hinsdale. Among the attractions at the event, put on by the Hinsdale Chamber of Commerce, were the arrival of Santa Claus on a Hinsdale Fire Department truck, the tree-lighting ceremony, and a mariachi band outside CiNe Modern Taqueria. HCS Family Services in Hinsdale needs volunteers to wrap gifts for Oakbrook Center shoppers this Christmas season in an effort to raise money for the nonprofit.
The folllowing is a release from HCS Family Services: HCS Family Services in Hinsdale is seeking energetic people to support a seasonal fundraiser by wrapping holiday gifts for shoppers at Oakbrook Center. We need volunteers for several shifts each day. Days and times listed below. Individuals and organizations are invited to sign up for as many shifts as they would like. Wrapping paper and supplies will be provided by Oakbrook Center and all donations will go directly to HCS Family Services! As if you needed an introduction, Nov. 23 marks one of the busiest shopping days of the year—Black Friday. The event often brings out the best and sometimes, the worst, in shoppers. Some have been known to wait in line for hours before the doors open—and blistering cold, biting winds or driving rain has proved no match for the avid Black Friday deal-hunter. So far, the National Weather Service is predicting mild weather. Thanksgiving night, there’s a chance of showers and mostly cloudy skies, with a low around 42. The heaviest travel is expected Wednesday, when 1.7 million vehicles are projected to be on the road, according to tollway officials.
Drivers hitting the tollways in Illinois this Thanksgiving will not be alone, by any means. The Illinois Tollway expects 10 million drivers to be on the toll roads throughout the state between Monday, Nov. 19, and Sunday, Nov. 25. Wednesday is expected to be the busiest travel day, with 1.7 million drivers projected to be on the road. On an average day, about 1.4 million vehicles use the tollway, officials said. "The Illinois Tollway is expected to be busier than usual this holiday season," said Illinois Tollway Executive Director Kristi Lafleur in a press release. "We urge our customers to focus on the road by putting their cell phones away, and more importantly, remember that it is always illegal to text while driving in Illinois." …
