Cyclist Doing Fine, Set To Break Guinness World Record Sunday

George Hood is doing well and scheduled to break Guinness World Record on Sunday at Burr Ridge's Urban Tri Gear.

It's 9:30 on Friday night at Urban Tri Gear and after riding on a stationary bike for almost a week, George Hood is two days away from breaking the Guinness World Record for the longest ride on a stationary bike. "Just 49 hours to go," said Hood, who has been riding for over 151 hours. Hood is scheduled to break the current record of 200 hours Sunday night. Click here for a previous Patch article on Hood.  "He's good, look at him," said Urban Tri Gear owner Preston Bokos, who is also part of Hood's support crew. Hood earns 5-minute breaks for every hour he completes on the bike. Burr Ridge Business Owner Remembers Friend Through Hosting Guinness World Record Attempt

Urban Tri Gear will raise money for the Gunnar Hotchkin Fund and host George Hood's re-attempt to break the Guinness World Record.

Before Gunnar Hotchkin was deployed to Afghanistan, he told his best friend Preston Bokos to look after his three kids. About six months into his tour, Hotchkin, 31, was killed when a roadside bomb flipped over the tank in which he was ridding. Bokos, owner of Burr Ridge's Urban Tri Gear, is fulfilling his friend's wishes. He has teamed up with three-time Guinness World Record breaker George Hood to raise money for the Gunnar Hotchkin Memorial Fund. Beginning Saturday, Oct. 23, Hood will make Urban Tri Gear his home-base and attempt to break the GWR for longest ride on a stationary bike.
