Burr Ridge Dance Instructors Help Raise $60,000 for Hinsdale Hospital

The 'Dancing with our Stars: Mad Men Style" event paired professional instructors from Burr Ridge with medical staff from the hospital to raise funds for a cancer and outpatient center.

More than $60,000 was raised for Adventist Hinsdale Hospital at “Dancing with Our Stars: Mad Men Style,” a Hinsdale Hospital Medical Staff Auxiliary fundraiser. The event took place Feb. 25 at the historic Willowbrook Ballroom in Willow Springs.

Proceeds will benefit a cancer and outpatient center planned to be built on Ogden Avenue to serve patients of Adventist Hinsdale and Adventist La Grange Memorial hospitals.

“Our new outpatient cancer center will enable us to continue to provide world-class care and treatment,” said Susan King, executive director of the Hinsdale Hospital Foundation.

The “stars” dancing at the event included:

  • Kimberly Arquilla
  • Craig Milkint, PNC Wealth Management, Hinsdale
  • Dr. Dwight Kett
  • Dr. Marisa Saint Martin

  • Shawn Tyrrell, chief nursing officer, Adventist Hinsdale Hospital

Event chairs were Kimberly and Venanzio Arquilla. Venanzio is a member of the Adventist Midwest Health operating board and former Hinsdale Hospital Foundation board member.

“Venny and I were thrilled to chair this event because supporting the hospital means a great deal to us,” said Kimberly, a Hinsdale resident. “Adventist Hinsdale Hospital took excellent care of my father-in-law, Primo,  who had terminal cancer.”

The event theme was taken from two popular television shows, “Dancing with the Stars,” and “Mad Men,” about Madison Avenue advertising in the early 1960s. Many guests dressed in period clothing from the 1960s.

“There aren’t too many causes for which I’ll put on my dancing shoes,” said David L. Crane, president and chief executive officer of Adventist Midwest Health, “but we have such a great partnership with the Hinsdale Hospital Medical Staff Auxiliary that I was glad to do it.”
