Girls Tennis: Hinsdale South Doubles Team Has Perfect First Day at State

Day 1 of the IHSA state tournament is in the books, and Hinsdale South's only qualifiers are 3-0.

The Hinsdale South doubles team of Emma Adcock and Andrea Wakim won all three of its matches Thursday during Day 1 of the IHSA girls tennis state tournament.

The pair of seniors opened with a 6-2, 6-1 first-round win against Providence Catholic's Jamie Noonan and Marybeth Galick before they beat Taylor Stevenson and Jenny Lange of Triad, 6-2-, 6-3, in the second round, and Savannah Martin and Rebecca McIsaac of Belleville East, 6-4, 6-2, in the third round.

Adcock and Wakim, the only Hornets to qualify for state, will take on Glenbrook North's Anna Zelechonok and Katrine Zhadovich in the fourth round Friday at Buffalo Grove High School. A win will put them in the state quarterfinals.
