Big Security Changes at Chicago Marathon

Lessons learned from Boston Marathon bombing put into practice.

More than a million spectators and 45,000 runners are expected at Sunday's Chicago Marathon. The setup is already under way and security is top of the list or priorities.

Only registered runners and ticket holders will be allowed at the start and finish lines this year. All unattended items will be removed immediately. Clear plastic bags will replace backpacks.

As the final touches are put onto the start and finish lines at Grant Park, the lessons learned from the Boston Marathon bombings nearly 6 months to the day of Chicago’s race were revealed this week.
