Soaring Eagle Academy is now Blogging on the Burr Ridge Patch!

This is the first blog posting from Soaring Eagle Academy - and we are thrilled to be here! 

Our school was the long-held dream of 3 Speech Language Pathologists who specialized in working with children with Autism.  They saw that their clients had great potential for thinking, communicating and interacting and they wanted to open a school that encompassed all the best practices they had learned in their combined 40 years in practice.

After 5 long years of working and planning and fundraising by our founders and a group of families who believed in their vision, Soaring Eagle Academy opened our doors in September, 2010 at 8320 S. Madison Street in Burr Ridge.  We became the first school in the Midwest to follow the DIR/Floortime model in educating students with Autism.  We are dedicated to providing our students with a nuturing environment that supports them emotionally and socially as well as academically, and that respects their individual differences.

We started with 5 students in one elementary classroom, and just over a year later we now have 21 students and an elementary, intermediate and high school classrooms.
