LTHS Gold Card Blitz Is This Weekend

Burr Ridge residents whose homes are within the Lyons Township High School district (and even those whose homes are not) can help out student athletes by taking part in the annual Gold Card Blitz for the Boosters this weekend.

Fundraising is usually a part of participating in a sport or extra-curricular activity, and the LTHS Boosters plan for all participants in fall sports to go out and sell the Gold Card at a specific time.

This year the sale will take place Saturday, Aug. 20 from noon to 2 p.m. During this time the student athletes will all be out in force selling the cards throughout our neighborhoods. The cards are the size and shape of a regular credit card and are good for deals throughout the year. This year’s card will be good for use through Aug. 17, 2012.

The card sells for $10, with $5 returned to the selling team or club. It’s a great deal and makes a good gift as well. If you’re not going to be home during the sale, there’s bound to be a student athlete on your block that will be selling them. In the past, my son went to neighbors in advance to secure their sale.

So on Saturday between noon and 2 p.m. the streets of our area will be filled with teens out supporting their teams. Hopefully you will support the teams and the local businesses offering deals on the Gold Card.
