Hinsdale South U.S. Presidential Scholars Program Semifinalist Honored
Lia Benes was recognized by the District 86 Board of Education at its meeting Monday night.
Recent Hinsdale South graduate Lia Benes was honored at Monday night's District 86 Board of Education meeting for being named a semifinalist in the 2013 U.S. Presidential Scholars Program.
"Lia was selected from more than 3,900 students across the country based on outstanding leadership qualities and academic accomplishments," Superintendent Nick Wahl wrote in a board report included in Monday's agenda. "The U.S. Presidential Scholars Program recognizes graduating seniors based on academic and artistic success, leadership and involvement in the school and the community."
Benes also got a perfect score of 36 on the ACT.
