D181 Board Back in Action After 7 Weeks Off

A presentation on the Everyday Math program and an vote to publicly post the tentative 2013-14 budget are on Monday night's District 181 Board of Education agenda.

The District 181 Board of Education will get together Monday night for it first meeting since June 24, and a couple of notable items are on the agenda.

Early on, assistant superintendent for learning Kevin Russell and director of learning Christine Igoe will present on the plan for this year's elementary math program, which will be the second under the Learning for All Plan, formerly known as the Advanced Learning Plan, which aims to have every student complete sixth-grade math by the end of fifth grade. 

The elementary math program was the focus of many third-grade parents' ire earlier this spring. 

Also Monday night, the board is scheduled to vote on putting the tentative 2013-14 budget on public display, which includes a levy extension equal to the CPI (1.7 percent) and therefore lower than the most recent extension, which was 2.5 percent.

Monday night's meeting is set for 7 p.m. at Elm School in Burr Ridge.
