Village Hall Renovation Expected to Begin in Late August

The Burr Ridge Village Board has approved bids for a general contractor and audio-visual equipment provider.

Plans for the renovation of the Board Room and Conference Room took a step forward Monday when the board approved bids for both a general contractor and audio-visual work.

In a 5-1 vote, with Trustee John Manieri casting the opposing vote, the board approved a contract with JC Anderson for $135,634 for general contractor services for the renovation of the board room, conference room and additional lighting. The board also approved a contract with AVLET, Inc. in the amount of $51,886 for the installation of audio-visual equipment in the board and conference rooms.

“Things such as draperies, furniture, are something that we’ll talk about later on. We can decide to keep the existing draperies and furniture, or we can replace them,” Village Administrator Steven Stricker said.

The Space Needs Committee has yet to review the bids that came in on the those items, he said.

“Even with the additional estimated cost associated with the furniture, drapery and signage, we’re still under budget,” Stricker said.

The village has set aside $450,000 from bond forfeiture funds to cover the cost of the renovations, Stricker said.

Josephine Goetz of Interior Environments was hired by the village to oversee the renovation plans. She said there was a stipulation in the bid documents requiring all materials to be ordered and waiting in warehouses, and for all shop drawings to be approved before any work can begin so that down time in the use of the board room would be minimized.

The renovation work is expected to begin in late August or early September, said Goetz.
