Plan For 2 New Burr Ridge Hotels Nixed

The Burr Ridge Plan Commission recommended unanimously Monday that a special-use permit for the development of two five-story hotels on South Frontage Road not be granted.

A developer’s petition to build two five-story hotels on South Frontage Road in Burr Ridge was withdrawn this week.

Burr Ridge village administrator Steve Stricker announced Tuesday that the proposed development will be pulled from next week's Burr Ridge Board of Trustees meeting after its developer's application for a special-use permit was not endorsed by the village’s Plan Commission Monday night.

“As a result of last night’s unanimous recommendation from the Plan Commission opposing the proposed hotel development, I spoke with Mr. Rachit Dhingra, the hotel developer, who agreed that he would withdraw his petition,” Stricker said in an email forwarded to Patch by assistant village administrator Lisa Scheiner.

Odyssey Hotels was planning on building the hotels on the vacant land at 15W150 South Frontage Road, according to the Plan Commission agenda.

According to The Doings, the hotels, which were to be a Hampton Inn and Suites and a Fairfield Inn and Suites, were the subject of “several hours of comments” made at Monday night’s meeting by residents against their approval.
