Mayor to Attend Press Conference on ComEd Tuesday

Burr Ridge is one of several municipalities that will use the conference as an opportunity to discuss infrastructure and reliability concerns about ComEd service.

Mayor Gary Grasso will be in Chicago today at a press conference concerning ComEd. The mayor informed the public and trustees Monday night that he would attend the conference regarding the energy company at the Thompson Center in Chicago.

Burr Ridge was one of several municipalities this summer that lost power for several days in and following severe thunderstorms that swept through the area. During the July storms, Village Administrator Steve Stricker said due to the number of outages that resulted from the storms.

“Many of the municipalities [attending the Chicago conference] are using the opportunity to impress upon ComEd that we’re very concerned about infrastructure and reliability issues,” Grasso said.

Trustee Al Paveza said he believed the biggest problem causing outages was trees and that ComEd perhaps had been slow in keeping trees trimmed.

“We’re going to stay on them as we have promised to do,” Grasso said.
