Teens Taking Part in 'Sticker Shock' Alcohol Awareness Campaign Today

Burr Ridge businesses will be getting a visit from Hinsdale Central and Downers Grove South students Friday.

At about 11 a.m. today, and students from and Downers Grove South will visit businesses to spread awareness about underage drinking.

It's all part of a public awareness campaign called "Project Sticker Shock" aimed at adults who buy alcohol for minors. The event will kick off Alcohol Awareness Month in April.

Teens are giving up a morning during their spring break to reach adults who might be tempted to buy alcohol for young people under 21, who can’t buy it legally themselves.

. One of the teens, a junior said she did not think it was hard for teens to get alcohol. She said it was all about knowing the right person.

The students will be placing florescent yellow-and-black stickers and decals stand on multi-packs of alcohol and glass refrigerator doors today to remind people that providing alcohol to minors is illegal.
