Death Toll From Thursday Crash Remains at Four; Driver Ticketed

The Chicago Tribune is reporting the deceased are all women.

UPDATE 5:38 p.m. Thursday

Three of the four people killed in a one-car rollover crash Thursday morning were thrown from the Ford Explorer as it rolled down an embankment on Interstate 290 near Addison Road. They were likely not wearing seat belts, according to The Chicago Tribune. 

As of 5 p.m. Thursday, the death toll remained at four; all of the deceased are women. Three male passengers, all from Chicago, were taken to area hospitals, according to the Tribune. The names of the victims have not been released.

The 31-year-old female driver was treated at the hospital and released. She has been ticketed for driving without a license, according to the Tribune. Witnesses to the accident are encouraged to call (847) 931-2405.

Illinois State Police are confirming four dead and four injured, according to the Chicago Tribune. Seven people were ejected and one person was trapped under the SUV when it rolled down an embankment at Interstate 290 near Route 83.

EARLIER: Multiple news sources are reporting a rollover accident occurred around 6 a.m. Thursday on westbound Interstate 290 just west of Route 83 in Elmhurst.

News sources are reporting multiple fatalities. CBS is reporting "at least three killed" and Fox News is reporting four people were killed and three transported to the hospital. Elmhurst Patch received an early unconfirmed report of six people killed. 

Westbound traffic continued to be being diverted onto Route 83 at 8 a.m. Emergency vehicles reporting to the scene included units from Elmhurst, Lombard, Itasca, Bloomingdale and Wood Dale, according to reports.
