Police Blotter: Man Crashes Car Into Home, Claimed He Was Attacked

Burr Ridge police reports May 30 - June 3

Accident involving DUI

At about 1:38 a.m., received a phone call from a resident near the corner at 83rd and Madison streets in Burr Ridge, saying a suspicious person was ringing the door bell. The resident did not open the door.

Officers found Jose Arguelles, 35, 5649 West 82nd Pl., Burbank in the area, injured and bleeding. Police say he told officers he was attacked by “some guys.”

Police say further investigation revealed that he had crashed his car into an unoccupied home in the area.

The man could not provide any information about his attackers, and his injuries were consistent with having been in a crash. Later, during questioning, police say he changed his story and stated that another car cut him off causing him to crash. The investigating officers said they could not substantiate his claims.

They arrested Arguelles and charged him with driving under the influence, improper lane use and operating an uninsured motor vehicle. Arguelles was transported to Adventist Hinsdale Hospital for treatment before booking, which was competed at the hospital.

Blotter information is provided by local law enforcement agencies. Charges are not evidence of guilt. They are a record of police actions taken on a given day, and persons charged with a crime are presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
