Heroin Deal with Kids in Car

A Lombard resident was charged with heroin possession following a traffic stop near First and Fillmore in Maywood, Forest Park police said.

Police were monitoring the area, which they said is known for high narcotic activity, and saw a car fail to signal when turning.

The driver, Paul J. Komyatte, 41, told police his driver's license was suspended. He was ordered to get out of the car and told police he didn't have anything illegal on him when he was asked. Officers searched him and found a plastic bag containing .5 grams of heroin.

Also in the car was Komyatte's fiancee and their two children, ages 6 years old and 7.5 months old. The fiancee had a driver's license and was allowed to take the car because of the children.

At the station, Komyatte said he bought the heroin and uses it "once in a while because of his back pain," according to police.
