Man Found Asleep Behind Wheel Charged With DUI: Police Blotter

Sleepy Driver Charged With DUI

Jermaine West, 39, of the 1100 block of Alann Drive, Joliet, was charged with DUI after he was found asleep behind the wheel in the in the 15W100 block of South Frontage Road at 12:18 a.m. and failed an ensuing breath test, police said.

Police said West's car was running while stopped in the roadway when officers came upon him. There were open beer bottles in the car, police said. West was charged with DUI and illegal transportation of alcohol. He was released to appear in court.

DUI Given to Erratic Driver

Richard L. Mortensen, 24, of the 3900 block of Pratt Street, Plano, was charged with DUI after he appeared to be under the influence of alcohol during a traffic stop for erratic driving on Interstate 55 near Madison Street at 1:56 a.m., and failed an ensuing breath test, police said. 

Mortensen was charged with DUI and improper lane usage. Police said he was released to appear in court.

FRIDAY, NOV. 2 

Man Caught Driving on Suspended License

Daniel Fuentes, 44, of the 100 block of Belle Drive, Northlake, was charged with driving on a suspended license during a traffic stop for disobeying a traffic signal near the intersection of Rockwell Court and Grant Street at 4:45 p.m., police said.

Elderly Man Drives onto Lawn

A resident from the 1400 block of Tomlin Drive reported at 6:50 p.m. seeing an elderly man drive onto the resident's lawn and nearly hit the resident's car parked in the driveway. Police said nothing was damaged and they were unable to locate the driver.
