A resident questioned police about two checks he received as payment for items he was selling on eBay. The checks totaled more than the cost of the items he was selling, and the buyer told him to cash the checks and return the difference to out-of-state locations.
Police told him this was a scam (in which the checks are bad, and the seller is out any money he sent back.) The resident did not cash the checks, police said.
