UPDATE: I-55 Traffic Slowly Picking Up After Truck Rollover at Burr Ridge Exit (VIDEO)

Four people were sent to the hospital with injuries that were not life threatening.

UPDATE: 4:07 p.m.

Just in time for the evening commute, traffic is picking up again after a tractor-trailer truck rolled over on the inbound Stevenson Expressway. It happened near the Burr Ridge exit around 7:40 Friday morning.

The truck reportedly flipped over then slid across three lanes of traffic. The Chicago Tribune reports that all traffic lanes were closed temporarily until about 9:15 a.m. According to the Sun-Times, two cars trying to avoid the accident collided, sending four people to the hospital.

assisted the state police until the Illinois Department of Transportation took over management of the incident.

"We assisted for a short time shutting down some ramps on County Line [Road] for the state police," said Burr Ridge Deputy Chief Tim Vaclav.

Traffic remained slow until about 1 p.m. on the Stevenson in the area approaching the site of the accident, coming to a virtual standstill between inbound exits 274 and 276A. Shortly after 1 p.m., traffic started to pick up again.

The Sun-Times reports that the driver was not hurt in the accident, but is expected to be cited.

The accident happened around 7:40 a.m. near Exit 276A, the County Line Road exit into Burr Ridge.

Traffic was still moving slowly around 1 p.m. Friday, with the biggest slowdown between exits 274 and 276A.
