DuPage DUI Arrests, Sept. 8 Edition

Aug. 31: Roy L. Smith Jr., 21, of the first block of Spinning Wheel Road, Hinsdale, was charged with the following:

  • DUI Alcohol
  • DUI over .08
  • Fleeing/Attempting to elude police
  • Driving below the minimum speed
  • Improper traffic lane usage
  • Failure to signal
  • Disregarding a traffic control light
  • Use of unsafe tire
  • Operating a motor vehicle without insurance

Smith was pulled over on I-55 northbound at Madison at 12:31 a.m. He was driving a black 2005 Chevrolet Monte Carlo Coupe, which was towed from the scene.

DOWNERS GROVE

Sept. 1: Luis Sosa, of the 6700 block of Lake Shore Drive, Westmont, was arrested at 12:22 a.m. at 63rd Street and Dunham. Sosa was charged with DUI alcohol, DUI alcohol with a BAC greater than .08, endangering the life and health of a child and speeding. His blue Chrysler Caravan was towed from the scene to an impound lot, according to a police report. He was released on an I-bond and has an Oct. 9 court date in Wheaton.

Aug. 31: Allen L. Reece, of the 4000 block of Morton Avenue, Downers Grove, was arrested at 1:13 a.m. on the 1400 block of Ogden Avenue. Reece was charged with DUI alcohol, unlawful possession of cannabis, illegal screeching/squealing of tires and speeding. His black Chevy Silverado was towed from the scene to an impound lot, according to a police report. He was released on an I-bond and has a Sept. 25 court date in Wheaton.

Aug. 30:

  • Joshua D. Brothers, of the 100 block of West Illinois Street, Wheaton, was arrested at 8:53 p.m. at Maple and Dunham. Brothers was charged with DUI alcohol, possession of cannabis and drug paraphernalia and failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident. His white Chevrolet C2500 was towed from the scene to an impound lot, according to a police report. He was released on an I-bond and has an Oct. 2 court date in Wheaton.
  • Michael G. Lally, of the first block of West 60th Street, Downers Grove, was arrested at 4:24 p.m. at Prairie and Highland. Lally was charged with DUI drugs, possession of drug paraphernalia and improper lane usage. His beige Toyota Corolla was towed from the scene to an impound lot, according to a police report. He was released on an I-bond and has an Oct. 9 court date in Wheaton.

Aug. 29: Erin D. Einwalter, of the 2600 block of Zurich Court, Woodridge, was arrested at 10:26 p.m. on the 1200 block of 75th Street. Einwalter was charged with DUI alcohol. Her black BMW X3 3.01 was towed from the scene to an impound lot, according to a police report. She was released on an I-bond and has a Sept. 25 court date in Wheaton.

ELMHURST

Sept. 2:

  • Elmer Vegar, 31, of the 5300 block of West 22nd Place, Cicero, was arrested and charged with DUI after police said they located him asleep behind the wheel of his gray Mazda 3 at York and Madison at 4:38 a.m. He also was charged with illegal transportation of open alcohol, improper parking on a roadway and no driver’s license on person. He was released on bond.
  • John Pate, 38, of the 4500 block of Clayton, Hillside, was arrested and charged with DUI and driving without insurance after police pulled over his Nissan Altima for speeding at St. Charles and Interstate 290 at 2:02 a.m. He was released on bond.
  • Cesar Berymen, 36, of the 1000 block of South Ellsworth, Addison, was arrested and charged with DUI and driving without insurance after police pulled over his silver Toyota Corolla for improper lane use at North and Route 83 at 1:05 a.m. He was released on bond.

Sept. 1: David Toney, 59, of the 1800 block of South 19th, Maywood, was arrested and charged with DUI after police pulled over his blue Dodge Intrepid for improper lane use at North and Clinton at 12:19 a.m. He was released on bond.

Aug. 31:

  • Christina T. Scoleri, 43, of the 6500 block of DaVane Lane, Downers Grove, was arrested and charged with DUI after police pulled over her white Cadillac Escalade for improper lane use and speeding at Route 83 and North Avenue at 4:55 a.m. She was released on bond.
  • Chris C. Wessels, 61, of the 300 block of South Villa Avenue, Villa Park, was arrested and charged with DUI and driving without insurance after police pulled over his black Volkswagen Phaeton for improper lane use at St. Charles and Fair at 4:47 a.m. He was released on bond.
  • Brooke Mucha, 23, of the 14500 block of Creek Crossing, Orland Park, was arrested and charged with DUI after police pulled over her gray Toyota Camry for disobeying a traffic control device at North and West at 3:01 a.m. She was released on bond.

Aug. 30:

  • Natalie Jones, 33, of the 2000 block of South Ash Street, Des Plaines, was arrested and charged with DUI after police pulled over her silver Jeep Liberty for improper lane use at North and York at 12:19 a.m. She was released on bond.
  • Raymond Frencher, 61, of the 7600 block of West 26th Street, North Riverside, was arrested and charged with DUI after police pulled over his blue Chrysler Pacifica for improper lane use and failure to yield to an emergency vehicle at Lake and York at 12:05 a.m. He was released on bond.

Aug. 29: Eva Kriaras, 31, of the 500 block of Andy Drive, Melrose Park, was arrested and charged with DUI after police pulled over her white Mitsubishi Galant for improper lane use and speeding at Lake and Interstate 294 at 2:52 a.m. She was released on bond.

Aug. 26: Francisco Lopez-Martinez, 35, of the 4100 block of West 56th Place, Chicago, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and driving without a license after police responded to a report of a man slumped behind the wheel of his tan Nissan Maxima at North Avenue and Route 83 at 7:07 a.m. He was released on bond.

GLEN ELLYN

Aug. 19: Randall J. Angst, 28, of the 900 block of Winslow Circle, Glen Ellyn, was charged with driving under the influence and speeding. Angst was arrested at 1:51 a.m. at Roosevelt Road and Main Street.

Aug. 18:

  • Elias Esquivel, 21, of the 700 block of Inland Circle, Naperville, was charged with driving under the influence, no driver's license, improper lane usage and leaving the scene of an accident. Esquivel was arrested at 9:47 a.m. on the 600 block of Kenilworth Avenue.
  • Alexander J. Kim, 25, of the 1900 block of Hastings Avenue, Downers Grove, was charged with driving under the influence. Kim was arrested at 2 a.m. at Prospect and Duane, according to police.

HINSDALE

Sept. 1: Arthur L. Martin, 61, of the 0S first block of Pleasant Hill Road, Wheaton, was charged with driving under the influence, driving under the influence with a BAC over .08 and improper lane use. Police at 12:50 a.m. pulled Martin over on the 100 block of West Ogden Avenue for improper lane use, according to a report. Martin was observed to be under the influence of alcohol. He submitted a breath test that indicated he was over the legal limit, according to police. He was charged and released to appear in court.

Aug. 31: John S. VanVuren, 53, of the 4900 block of University View Place Northeast, Seattle, was charged with driving under the influence and speeding. Police at 1:05 a.m. pulled VanVuren over on the 500 block of East Ogden Avenue for speeding, according to a report. VanVuren was observed to be under the influence of alcohol and refused a breath test to determine BAC. He was charged and released to appear in court.

Aug. 27: Thomas F. Maday, 28, of the 900 block of Dearborn Circle, Carol Stream, was charged with driving under the influence and improper lane use. Police at 1:16 a.m. pulled Maday over near Route 83 and 31st Street for improper lane use, according to a report. Maday was observed to be under the influence of alcohol and refused a breath test to determine BAC. He was charged and released to appear in court.

LEMONT

Sept. 1: Gwenda L. O'Neill, 53, of the 800 block of Main Street, Lemont, was arrested at 10:40 p.m. following a traffic stop at Main and Lockport streets. She was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, possession of drug equipment, improper lane usage and failure to signal. O'Neill was issued an Oct. 22 court date at the Bridgeview Courthouse.

Aug. 30: Christopher S. Abels, 50, of the 700 block of Julia Street, Lemont, was arrested at 1:32 p.m. following a traffic stop at Main and Kotlin streets. He was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and disobeying a traffic control device. Abels was issued an Oct. 22 court date at the Bridgeview Courthouse.

WHEATON

July 21:

  • Police charged Dean A. Collis, 54, of the 300 block of West Madison Street, Wheaton, with driving under the influence of alcohol. Collis was driving a black 2010 Ford Focus at 2:42 p.m. at Gary and Madison when police initiated a traffic stop. He was released on bail later that day.
  • Police charged Alec J. Hatch, 31, of the 500 block of Kingston Drive, Geneva, with driving under the influence of alcohol. Hatch was driving a black 2002 Chrysler at 1:04 a.m. at Butterfield Road and Legends when police initiated a traffic stop. He was booked at the Wheaton Police Department and released later that morning.

July 20:

  • Police charged Sarah F. Parrish, 22, of the 900 block of Creekside Drive, Plainfield, Ind., with driving under the influence of alcohol. Parrish was driving a red 2007 Chevrolet Cobalt at 3:17 a.m. at Foothill and Gables when police initiated a traffic stop. She was booked at the Wheaton Police Department and released later that morning.
  • Police charged Corey J. Richards, 23, of the 5100 block of South 200 E, Churubusco, Ind., with driving under the influence of alcohol. Richards was driving a black 2008 Chevrolet Cobalt at 2:10 a.m. at Butterfield Road and Cromwell Drive when police initiated a traffic stop. He was booked at the Wheaton Police Department and released later that day.

July 19: Police charged Eric T. Kappa, 29, of the 2800 block of Sunnyside, Westchester, Ill., with driving under the influence of alcohol. Kappa was driving a black 2013 Chevrolet Camaro at 1:22 a.m. at Briarcliffe Boulevard and College Lane South when police initiated a traffic stop. He was booked at the Wheaton Police Department and released later that morning.

Also arrested at the same time and place were Matthew B. Lemkau, 29, and Leslie C. Abrams, 34, both of the 1700 block of East 22nd Street, Wheaton. Lemkau was taken into custody on an outstanding DuPage County Sheriff's Office warrant for failure to appear in court in connection with a DUI charge. He was transported to the DuPage County Jail where he was later released.

Abrams was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia. She was released at the scene at 2:18 a.m., according to a police report.
