Driver Flees Police on I-55, Coke Machine Pried Open: Police Blotter

Burr Ridge police reports, Oct. 31-Nov. 6.

SUNDAY, NOV. 4

Open Fire Extinguished

A resident from the 8100 block of Steepleside Drive was given a warning for open burning after an officer located a brush fire on the property around 3:39 p.m. and was unable to contact the resident. Pleasantview Fire Protection District extinguished the fire, which the resident later said was meant to burn poison oak.  

Park District Reports Damaged Coke Machine 

Someone used a tire iron to pry open the door to a Coca-Cola vending machine at the Pleasantdale Park District offices, 7425 Wolf Rd., police learned at 8:29 a.m. Police said a tire iron was found near the machine. What was taken and the extent of the damage to the machine are unknown, police said. The incident is under investigation.

Party-Goer Victim of Hit and Run

A complainant reported at 10:01 a.m. that his pickup truck parked in the 9500 block of Jackson Street was damaged while he was attending a party. Police said the offending vehicle has not been located.

Phone Threat Reported

A resident reported receiving a threat from a male caller around 7:20 p.m., police said. The man called the home several times asking for someone the resident didn't know and made the threat after the resident told the caller he had the wrong number. Police said the resident declined to pursue the matter.

WEDNESDAY, OCT. 31

Driver of Pickup Flees Police

A driver in an older model red Ford pickup truck fled police after an officer attempted to stop the driver for disobeying a traffic signal near the intersection of County Line Road and Interstate 55 at 4:50 a.m.

Police said that instead of stopping for police, the driver exited County Line onto I-55 and increased his or her speed. The officer followed the driver, police said, but eventually ended the chase for safety reasons. The incident is under investigation.

Car Windshield Painted

A complainant reported at 9:25 a.m. that someone shot paintballs at the front windshield of the complainant's car while it was parked in the 600 block of Burr Ridge Parkway. The paint was washed off and no damage was done to the car.
