Burr Ridge Police Report Rash of Vehicle Burglaries

The public reports nine incidents of theft, burglary or trespassing to police over four days.

Nine separate reports of vehicles in Burr Ridge being illegally entered, most of which also detailed missing items, were made to the between Aug. 18 and Aug. 21. 

Two incidents occurred in a parking lot on the 600 block of Burr Ridge Parkway, while a batch of cars on 75th Street and 73rd Place were also hit for whatever cash was inside.

Deputy Chief Tim Vaclav reported that all of the vehicles were unlocked, except for one. No arrests have been made, and Vaclav said the department believes some of the incidents may be related, based on time and proximity.

"Probably related but no proof," Vaclav said in an email, answering Patch's questions about the incidents.

Below is a rundown of the incidents, according to the Burr Ridge police blotter and information provided by Vaclav. The times in bold are the times the offenses were reported, not the time they occurred.

SATURDAY, AUG. 18

5:58 a.m.: An unlocked car in the 11300 block of 73rd Place was entered and $10 in loose change was taken.

6:22 a.m.: Three unlocked cars parked in the 11400 block of 75th Street were entered, but nothing was taken. 

6:58 a.m.: One unlocked car in the 11400 block of 75th Street was entered and a coin purse containing approximately $10 in change was taken.

6:59 a.m.: One unlocked car in the 11300 block of 73rd Place was entered and $2 to $3 in loose change was taken.

10:14 a.m.: Two unlocked vehicles were entered while parked in the 11200 block of 73rd Place and approximately $20 combined was taken.

SUNDAY, AUG. 19

10:41 a.m.: A spare tire located on the exterior of a Jeep was taken while the car was parked in the 1200 block of Burr Ridge Parkway.

8:45 p.m.: Between 7 p.m. and 8 p.m., an unknown person broke into a locked car parked on the 600 block of Burr Ridge Parkway via a driver's side window and stole a purse that was inside.

MONDAY, AUG. 20

8:40 a.m.: An unknown person entered an unlocked vehicle in the 11300 block of 73rd Place and took its radio.

TUESDAY, AUG 21

6:08 p.m.: An unknown person took a cell phone from an unlocked vehicle parked on the 600 block of Burr Ridge Parkway.
