1. Rumor About Student Bringing Gun and 'Kill List' to School Not True: Clarendon Hills Police Chief Ted Jenkins said his department got about a dozen calls over the weekend from concerned parents in the wake of the Newtown, CT, school shooting.

2. Gower 62 Hires New Superintendent: Victor Simon comes to Gower from Chicago Public Schools, where he is currently the chief of schools for the Pershing Elementary School Network.

3. New Teachers Contract Approved by Gower 62 Board: The agreement that will take the two sides through the 2014-15 school year was approved at the board's Dec. 18 meeting.
