It's Never Too Late To Become A Late-In-Life Author

Blog will be about encouraging people to discover the writer within after 50.

I'm proof of that.  At 71, I became a columnist for a magazine and my column appers on the web site of FRANOI.COM - WRITE FROM THE HEART.

The focus of this blog will be to encourage those over 50 to discover the writer within.

"To write is to write, is to write, is to write, is to write, is to write, is to write,"  Gertrude Stein said.

The late Jimm Durante would say: "Everybody wants to get in on the act." There's something else most people want to do as well:  "Everybody wants to write, whether the great American novel or memoir." There's a wonderful song titled "It's Never Too Late To Ring Like a Bell" and just because you're over 50, it's not too late to be a writer. Everyone has a story to tell and only you can write it.

I will give my suggestion on this blog based on my true life writing journey which started at the age of 56.

W R I T E R S spells Writers = 7 Simple Steps for Beginning Writers of All Ages.

W/Write

Start with one word.  After listening to the experienced writers in the writers's group the first night, I started to get this inferior feeling and thinking, "I can't write like  them. Who do I think I am? I'm no writer." I prepared my speech in my mind and would tell them I wouldn't be reading stories becasue I never wrote before. At the end of the class, I bravely said:  "I really love being here and I love listening to you, but I don't have the BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH, and before I could finish my sentence all of them, including the teacher, people I had just met, stook up and one after the other said "Oh yes you are - you're here because you want to write and you're going to write and you're going to read what you write."  The teacher, Enid Powell, writer from the Young and Restless said: One word, one sentence, one paragraph, you're going to write."  And that's what did it.  Those words became my mangra. I would start every piece I wrote with those lines. I made a little banner of the words and placed in on my computer.  Make one now for yourself and YOU'RE GOING TO WRITE!

Next week I'll share R/Read with you.

Here's to the writer in you.
