The Loyola Center for Health Opens its Doors

The Loyola Center for Health will host an open house this weekend in preparation for its March 7 opening. Take a look at what's inside.

Doctors and staff were filing in and out of the Loyola Center for Health today as the facility prepared for its open house on Saturday and official opening on Monday, March 7.

The 100,000 square foot facility will provide primary care, rehabilitation services and specialty care to an expected 150,000 patients per year. There are currently more than 70 physicians at the facility.

“This is one of the largest comprehensive medical practices we have off of [Loyola’s] main campus [in Maywood],” said Diane Deacy, administrative director for ambulatory development.

The facility was designed as a one-stop shop for care and will enable patients to get all their services in one visit. In the same day, a back pain patient could get a MRI and see a specialist and a physical therapist.

The building will also house an immediate care center for patients needing treatment for minor ailments such as ankle sprains or the flu. The immediate care center will be open every day except Christmas and will be staffed by doctors, as opposed to nurse practitioners.

And for Burr Ridge, the immediate care center fills a need in the community.

Deacy said that Mayor Gary Grasso approached Loyola with the idea of brining an immediate care center to the community.  And because of Burr Ridge’s accessibility to major highways and the surrounding southwestern suburbs, Burr Ridge was a good fit.

"Many of our physicians live in Burr Ridge and surrounding communities," said Dr. Terry Light, chairman of Loyola's Department of Orthopaedics and Rehabilitation, in a press release.

"They are delighted to have a center close to their homes, where they can practice and take care of their neighbors," said Light, who will also practice at the Burr Ridge facility.

Some of the services offered at the medical facility include:

  • Musculoskeletal Care - orthopaedics, sports medicine, podiatry, physical medicine and rehabilitation.
  • Neurosciences - Spine Center, neurology, psychiatry and neurosurgery.
  • Specialty care - Sinus and Allergy Center, Osteoporosis Center, Diabetes Center and more.
  • Surgery - general, vascular, oral, gynecologic and bariatric.
  • Rehabilitation - physical, occupational and speech therapies; aquatic therapy and day rehabilitation for patients recovering from stroke and from brain injuries. Cardiac rehabilitation will be available this summer.
  • Clinic for Sleep Disorders - four private rooms for diagnostic sleep studies.
  • Pain Management - offering a comprehensive approach to treating acute and chronic pain.
  • Comprehensive imaging - X-ray, MRI, CT, fluoroscopy, bone scanning, ultrasound and digital mammography.
