Winter Weather Advisory Issued; 4 to 6 Inches of Snow Possible
Travel could be hazardous during today's snowstorm.
More snow is on its way later Saturday and will continue into early Sunday morning, according to the National Weather Service.
A winter weather advisory has been issued for the Chicago area, including McHenry, Lake, Cook, Kane, DuPage, Will, Grundy, Kendall and DeKalb counties.
Between four to six inches is expected with isolated higher amounts possible.
Snow is expected to begin to develop around 3 p.m. Saturday. Snow will be moderate to heavy at times between 6 p.m. Saturday and 3 a.m. Sunday.
Between 1/2 to one inch could fall per hour during the heaviest period of snow making for snow-covered roads and low visibility, according to a video weather briefing on the National Weather Service website (VIEW the full video above). Travel could be hazardous at times.
Decreased temperatures and increased winds may bring wind chill values readings of 5 to 15 below zero for Sunday morning and to 20 below zero for Monday morning.
