Metra Service Alert: Extreme Heat to Cause Delays

Burr Ridge commuters should budget 15 extra minutes of commute time for the next few days.

train commuters may want to leave the house a little early, while we're experiencing this heat wave. Metra has put out an extreme heat advisory to let riders know that they may experience delays due to the heat.

"With warmer temperatures, it is necessary to operate our trains at reduced speeds to compensate for heat-related stresses on our track, switches and signals," the company said in a media announcement.

Metra said riders may experience delays of 10 to 15 minutes. The company said that during these types of advisories, it will have all resources on standby in order to respond to service interruptions.
