Indian Prairie Public Library Offers Free Job-Finding Resources

Programs, databases and books are available to help you land your next job.

Job numbers released June 3 show not much has changed on the employment front—unemployment held steady from April to May at 9.1 percent.

But Darien residents have a number of free resources available to them from the Indian Prairie Public Library to help them find work or advance in the job they already have.

  • The Job & Career Accelerator is a new addition to the library’s databases. It boasts more than five million job and internship listings, as well as programs that allow you to track and organize your job applications.
  • The LearningExpress Library offers a series of webinars to help you polish your resume, fine-tune your interview skills and narrow your job search to positions that are the best fit.
  • At the library’s computers, patrons can take advantage of WinWay Resume Delux software to craft a superior resume.
  • Indian Prairie offers a regular series of computer skills courses that teach everything from the basics of word processing and digital spreadsheets to organizing your desktop into files and folders.
  • If you’re looking to switch careers or feel like you need an academic boost to get you to the next level, representatives from the will be at the library Thursday to answer questions about programs and admission. The drop-in session runs from 5 – 8 p.m.
  • The library also offers an extensive collection of books and reference materials to aid you in your job search.
