HGTV Gardening Expert to Share Tips at Indian Prairie Public Library

The talk is part of a series of gardening lectures to take place at the library during the first two weeks of June.

Just in time for summer, the Indian Prairie Public Library will host a series of gardening presentations in partnership with the Darien Garden Club outside the library.

The first, called, “Choosing Local Plants” will take place on Saturday, June 4 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Locally grown plants that can be used for starting a garden will be available for sale that day.

The gardening series will continue on Monday, June 6, at 7 p.m. with a presentation called “Beat the Heat Gardening." This lecture which will focus on low maintenance, drought tolerant plants for local gardening.

William Moss, gardening expert, will present this program which covers mulching, soil composition, shading and plant selection.  Moss began his career with the Discovery Channel’s Rally Round the House and TLC’s Town Haul. He is currently the host of HGTV’s  Dig In and is also a contributor on The Early Show on CBS. 

Also on Monday, master gardeners from the University of Illinois extension Service will be in the library lobby from 6-8 p.m. to answer gardening questions.

People are asked to register for “Beat the Heat Gardening” online at ippl.info, by calling 630.887.8760 ext. 239, or in person at the library's "Ask Us" desk.

Individuals who require an accommodation for a disability for any library program are asked to contact the library at least five days before the program. The Indian Prairie Public Library serves Willowbrook, Darien and Burr Ridge.
