At about 10 a.m. this morning, Comcast customers in the greater Chicago area lost Internet, telephone and TV service, according to a representative for Comcast Signature Support services. The representative said Westmont is listed as the location for the outage, but the outage likely extends to the greater Chicago area.

Angelynne Amores, Director of Communications for Comcast in the Greater Chicago area said she could not confirm that information.

"I was not a part of that conversation," said Amores. "Just because our computer said that the outage is in the greater Chicago area doesn't necessarily mean that's how far the outage extends. 'Greater Chicago area' is an internal designation."

Comcast customer service representatives said crews are working to restore service to the area, but could not give a time when it would be up and running again. Representatives estimated that service had been restored to about 98 percent of customers by 1 p.m.

Customers can call 1-800-COMCAST (1-800-266-2278) to report service issues.
