Roskam on Passage of The Exchange Information Disclosure Act

Congressman Peter Roskam (IL-06) released the following statement on the passage of H.R. 3362, The Exchange Information Disclosure Act:

“Today the House passed The Exchange Information Disclosure Act, calling on the Obama Administration to release weekly reports that detail the health care law’s performance, including state-by-state enrollment numbers, key website metrics and Medicaid application figures. This bill brings much-needed transparency to the law’s implementation, because for too long, too much about Obamacare has been hidden from public view.

“Almost four years ago, the bill was drafted behind closed doors and rushed through Congress without debate or amendment. And since the botched rollout of Healthcare.gov and news that millions of Americans would lose their current insurance despite the president’s pledge, the Administration has been in full-fledged bunker mode, withholding critical information and stonewalling Congressional oversight.  The American people deserve better than the Administration’s obfuscation and empty promises. This massive and complex law will impact millions of people in a very personal way, and so Congress must continue demanding answers on behalf of our constituents. Today, the House took another step forward on behalf of the American people, and we will continue to hold the president and his Administration to account on their healthcare law.”
