Crooked Auto Dealership

On Sunday August 11th (and yes it is illegal to sell vehicles in Illinois on Sunday), I purchased a vehicle from Madison Ridge Auto Sales. Beings that it was Sunday, there were no places open to have it looked at. Joe, the owner verbally guaranteed me that all was fine and good with the car. Even more illegal, Joe gave me a temporary tag from his Missouri dealership.
My mistake is that I had trusted a friend, first of all.
The transmission was gone before I even returned home to Southern Illinois. Tried several times to contact him and the place that put in the transmission. Was told to drive it back up or tow it. I am a single mother and spent what little I had on the car.
The transmission was out, had to pay over 1500.00 to get it fixed. And low and behold on my way home, the exhaust fell off!!!! The car is a total nightmare and I was robbed.
I found 2 temporary tags in the glove box from where he had sold it to other people, but when I called the Secretary of State, they had no record of the transactions, even though he had collected money for them.
I do not want any unsuspecting buyers who work hard for their money to have to go through what I have. I have been fighting for disability for almost 2 years and have no income. I bought the car with what little I had left from my settlement. Now I fear even going to the doctor or taking my grandchildren anywhere because of the horrible car that this man sold off his lot.
Please do not let this happen to you or to any of your friends or family. I didn't have much, but the repairs on the piece of junk have cost me everything I have.
