As friends and family of a slain Hinsdale South graduate prepare to honor his memory tonight, they do so with the knowledge that the man police believe is responsible for his murder is behind bars.
The DuPage County Sheriff's Office announced Thursday that a 23-year-old fellow resident of the Hinsdale Lake Terrace Apartment Complex had been arrested at his parents home. The DuPage County State's Attorney has charged Juan Cuellar with two counts of first-degree murder in the death of 18-year-old Joshua Holmes.
Cuellar is currently being held without bond at the DuPage County Jail.
The vigil for Joshua "Savage" Holmes will be held at 6:30 p.m. at the Hinsdale Lake Terrace complex. It will take place at the location where Holmes was shot Monday, near the intersection of Honeysuckle Rose Lane and Hyacinth Lane in unincorporated Willowbrook.
Cuellar's mother, Elva Hernandez, 42, was charged with two felony counts of obstruction of justice in connection with the crime. She is being held in DuPage County Jail on $150,000 bond.
No information about funeral arrangements has been available yet.
