UPDATE: Prostitution Repeat Offenders' Bond Set [VIDEO]
Bond has been set for Jessica Asbury and Carlo Woolfolk, who have been accused of holding a woman against her will at the Extended Stay America in Burr Ridge.
Jessica L. Asbury, 21, and Carlo P. Woolfolk, Jr., 28, are being held in DuPage County jail pending a trial. Bond for Asbury has been set at $10,000, and bond for Woolfolk has been set for $20,000.
Asbury was arrested in Naperville last month for prostitution. Woolfolk also was arrested at that time for pandering. Both are well-known in Oklahoma City for being involved in prostitution, according to Brian Bates, the founder of JohnTV.com in Oklahoma. Bates has been capturing on video alleged prostitutes and pimps working the streets in Oklahoma City for the past 15 years.
Asbury and Woolfolk were arrested Thursday after two men came to the Burr Ridge Police Department to report that they had been receiving text messages from a female friend who said she was being held against her will and being forced to “do things she didn’t want to do”.
Burr Ridge Deputy Police Chief Tim Vaclav said the alleged victim and both her friends are from Carpentersville, Illinois.
"She had been in contact with [her friends] via text messaging, and they were concerned because she seemed to be in distress. She wanted them to come pick her up," said Vaclav. "When they went to pick her up and were unable to make contact with her, they became suspicious."
Vaclav said the men then received a text that everything was fine, but asked the clerk at the Extended Stay America where the closest police station was. They then went to the police with their concerns.
Police obtained search warrants for Room 212 where Asbury and Woolfolk were registered as guests as well as warrants for DNA. The DuPage County State’s Attorney’s Office was notified, and a member of the Special Victims Unit (SVU), came to the Burr Ridge Police Department.
Vaclav said the victim told police she had been sexually assaulted, and police took her to Adventist Hinsdale Hospital to be examined.
"She was checked out and released, and we were able to talk to her a little more. She wasn't admitted," said Vaclav, who said the woman's test results have not come back yet.
Vaclav said the investigation is ongoing.
"There is a possibility of other charges and other individuals being charged, but we have not identified anybody yet," said Vaclav.
In the meantime, the victim is back with family and friends.
These recent charges mean a violation of probation for both Woolfolk and Asbury, which will be taken into consideration when they go before a judge again. At the time of this publication, both remain in DuPage County jail on bond.
In the past five years, there have been two arrests for prostitution at the Extended Stay America in Burr Ridge, and one arrest for prostitution at the Chicago Marriott Southwest in Burr Ridge.
*Phone calls to the DuPage County State's Attorney's Office about what these arrests might mean in light of previous charges were not returned by the time of this article's publication. Patch will update this story as information becomes available.
