Tuesday Morning Briefing: Voting Day for the Primaries is Here

Here's a quick rundown of this morning's news.

1. It's time to cast your ballot for the Illinois General Primary. Mayor Gary Grasso is running for a seat on the DuPage County Board, and the Gower School District is hoping voters will vote yes on a $9 million referendum that will fund improvements to the district's schools. You can find the latest on all the races affecting Burr Ridge residents on our Election Central page.

2. Summer-like temps are expected today. The National Weather Service is calling for a sunny day with a high of 81 degrees. The NWS expects a breezy day with wind gusts that could reach 25 mph. Weather.com predicts a 30 percent chance of rain and has issued a pollen alert for people with allergies.

3. Hinsdale South has selected a new athletic director. Kimberly Maloney will replace current AD Timothy Feigh when he retires in July.

4. Columnist Lynn Hudoba shares about the time she lost her autistic daughter in a crowd while on vacation. (For those of you who don't know, Burr Ridge has an academy for autistic students called Soaring Eagle Academy that was created to serve students with special needs like Lynn's daughter.)

5. In Hinsdale South High School sports, the girls varsity soccer team has a home game at 6:30 p.m. against Lincoln Way Central High School, and the boys varsity baseball team has a home game against Wheaton Warrenville South at 4:30 p.m. For more info on other Hornet games taking place tonight, click here.
