$6.6K in Jewelry Stolen from Homes, Counterfeit Cash: Police Blotter

TUESDAY, NOV. 5

$4,600 in Rings Go Missing

A resident from the 1200 block of Kenmare Drive reported the theft of two rings worth a combined $4,600 from a locked jewelry box that was in a closet of the resident's home. Police said the resident believes the theft occurred some time between January and July 2012. There were no signs of forced entry.

Earring, Rare Coins Stolen

A resident from the 0-100 block of Waterside Place reported that items including one earring and several rare coins worth a combined $2,000 were stolen from a bedroom in the home. Police did not give a timeframe on when the theft is believed to have occurred and said the case is currently under investigation. There were no signs of forced entry.

$5K Steel Beams Taken

Eighteen fabricated steel lintel beams, often used to span doorways and windows, worth a combined $5,000 were taken from outside a property in the 16W300 block of 83rd Street some time during the weekend of Nov. 1 to Nov. 3. Police said the case is under investigation.

MONDAY, NOV. 4

Counterfeit Fifty-Spot

The Quality Inn, 15W300 S. Frontage Rd., reported to police at 11:44 a.m. that an employee found a counterfeit $50 bill while counting the front desk's cash drawer. Police said the counterfeit bill was turned over for an investigation.

FRIDAY, NOV. 1

Bears Tickets Purchased, Not Recieved

A resident from the 7600 block of Ridgewood Lane reported at 9:04 p.m. that a $535 payment in response to a Craigslist ad for four tickets to a Chicago Bears game and a parking pass was successfully wired, but the items were not received. Police said the case is under investigation.
