No Problems Reported as Burr Ridge Votes

So far, the elections are off to a trouble-free day.

No voter complaints or problems have been reported so far as a steady trickle of Burr Ridge residents filed into Gower Middle School Tuesday afternoon to cast their votes.

The day has been trouble-free at Gower, said Technician Judge Jo Ann Starha. Additionally, no major complaints have been reported to the DuPage County Election Commission, said Doreen Nelson, assistant executive director. That is, except for one complaint regarding legally-placed campaign signs that were taken down.

As of 1 p.m. Tuesday, 92 residents had voted at Gower.

“That number is typical for this type of election,” said Starha. Adding that the write-in candidates running for Village Trustee may have brought in a few more voters.

Nelson is hoping more voters will hit the polls today.

“I wish more people would vote,” she said.

The past two elections, 2009 and 2007, saw a voter turnout of 20.6 percent, said Nelson.

“That’s pretty sad,” she said.

Residents have until 7 p.m. to vote. Voters in DuPage County can find their polling place here and Cook County residents can find that information here.
